What is this Pokki **** that suddenly popped-up on my laptop (Windows 8)?

Microsoft was supposed to be releasing Windows 8.1 as an update. This Pokki thing cant possibly be the magic 8.1 blue that is going to make us all forget about how much we hate Windows 8. It keeps pestering me to download it and I dont want it.

It doesnt even appear to be from Microsoft. Is it?

Answer: Its a third party developer that created a start menu addon program / app store for Windows 7 or 8. It's in no way associated with Microsoft. Windows 8.1 won't be available in beta until June 26.

i have long short windows...i was wondering what type of curtains i should hang?

the windows are 8 1/2 (width) feet by 2 feet (length). i cant seem to find any curtains that would look right. most windows arent this short. web sites would help to look at. but if not then opinion also help.

Answer: Drapes should either fall just below the window sill or extend to the floor. However, they may extend to the ceiling, even if the top of the windows is considerably below the ceiling.

You could hang both long and short drapes to break up the width. For example, you might hang two-foot wide floor length drapes on the left and right sides and four-foot wide short drapes in the middle.

Be sure that the drapery rods are installed so that, when the drapes are open they do not block the window.

Consider other ways to break up the length, such as placing folding screens or large plants on either side of the window.

Is this processor, ram, and memory enough?

Im an engineering student but I dont know much about laptops. I dont want to spend a lot and pay for stuff I dont need but at the same time I dont want a laptop that isnt good enough to fulfill my needs. I use my computer a lot. I browse the internet with many tabs open, watch video, and use programs such as photoshop, microsoft visual C++, and autocad. I can live without some of the more heavy duty programs and just use them in computer labs but I would rather not. So what type of ram, processor, other stuff that is important do I need? I will give a best answer. Any help would be appreciated.

So I found a laptop I like and I am wondering if it is good enough for my needs.Also its a sony. Is that a good brand?

I am worried about the i3 processor but since its a third generation I am not sure if that means its ok. I cant upgrade it (unless that is something you can do after you buy a laptop) because I found a deal on amazon so I have to take it with these specific specifications if I buy it
@MIke. A lot of my friends laptops become extremely slow and difficult to use when trying to run autocad etc so I know that there are many laptops out there that wont work for what I want. If I was just planning to use it for facebook and netflix then you would probably be right.

Answer: Not a good choice in your field.
Understanding that only Asus and MSI are brand manufacturer-designers and the rest are about procurement and subcontract, As Sony uses better keyboards, trackpads, LCD screens, their CPU and graphics pays the price for an equal cost system.

i3-3217U is low voltage to extend battery life, but the cpu speed/performance is poor.

With i3-3217U at 2058, more like a 1st generation i3 Intel Core i3 M 370 @ 2.40GHz, and below the AMD budget one level back AMD A6-3420M. When talking autocad, that is a serious CPU and RAM user, and you don't want to go to lunch after you push a button.
4 GB RAM is considered minimal in autocad. You would love 16GB, but will probably have to settle for 8GB, and what isn't in the system needs an upgrade, and "fixed on board" in a slim system means soldered RAM. Yuck. You want a thin light laptop which is a fancy netbook to actually perform like a real computer? Guess again or spend $2000+ on a MacBook Pro that still weighs quite a bit.

State your price point and reconfirm a USA location.
Your best bets will usually be Lenovo.com for a Y480 or Y580 with all of graphics, CPU, and RAM power, and the 1080p of the Y580 is exactly what you want, but it is $1000.

Otherwise, aim at CPU and RaM and then HDD speed in that order assuring Intel 4000 or better graphics and at least CAD and advanced software will run.

How can i cancel updates for the Windows Live Messenger Beta?

Everytime i wanna sign into my messenger is giving me to install the new version Windows 2009.I dont like this version for some reasons, so i prefer the older one.
Any advice to stop the "forced" instalation?


Answer: I believe this is just an optional upgrade. I think there are some security issues on WLM 8.5 version that is why they are prompting users to upgrade to WLM 9.0. If you want, you can downgraded your WLM to version 8.1 by uninstalling it and then installing the WLM 8.1 version.

What is the difference between windows word 2003 and 2007?

I have Windows Word 2003 and all my school computers have Word 2007. Can Word 2003 do the same things as Word 2007 for Word documents and excel work? Or can it transfer stuff that is from 2003 to 2007?

Is the Gateway NE56R31u laptop good enough to run the sims 3 and expansions?

I need to know if this laptop will run the sims 3 games and expansions and on low or high settings?

Answer: From what I've read, AMD is better than Intel, so I would recommend finding one of the NE series ones that has AMD. And just from experience with Gateway (I for my currently laptop about three years ago, and it's an NV53), it might be beneficial to have a little more GB storage. Mine has 320 and runs pretty well, but it could be better.

I'm not a big computer whiz though, so I don't even know if all that I think affects the game actually does, I'm just kind of basing it on what I assume would be good to have.

How do i get rid of msn messenger plus?

hey guys, i keep getting those annoying pop up ads from msn messenger plus even though i have removed it from my computer, from add and remove programs, and it no longer appears on my msn messenger.

i have also tried uninstalling msn and reinstalling it to no prevail. im currently running windows messenger 8.1.

what should i do?

Answer: A similar thing happend to me.
Theres nothing YOU can really do, im pretty sure you have to take it to a computer shop and they can get rid of it for you.
They are super genuis computer nerds :)

Answer: I don't know who told you that you had to change from your 8.1 Version, but it's not true. I'm still using my 8.1 from three years ago and it's working fine!

Yahoo did make versions 7.0 and older obsolete, but you certainly didn't have to uninstall what you were using. Either you go back to your older version, or get used to what you're using now. There's no changing the photo placement on the app, it is what it is.

Kind of like what happened with new coke? Windows may come out with something called Windows Classic in the future or something because of people hate towards Windows 8 and then gain a huge amount of sales and increase their revenue by a great amount due to peoples admiration for the classic windows desktop with the start menu and people will want to run back to windows with the classic desktop environment and ecosystem. Answer: No. MS have spent millions on windows 8 because they see it and the metro interface as how we want to use our computing devices, not just pcs but smartphones, xbox etc.

This is just like vista all over again. It may be fine for small home machines that have touch screen capabilities, but it'll never be adopted in business.

Why is my yahoo mail format different on my new Laptop with Windows 8?
