Security at College Stadiums Raises Concern
After more than a decade in counterterrorism, Jim McGee can no longer relax and enjoy watching a sports event. when will NASCAR keep the start and park teams from competeing?
NASCAR wants every race to be competitive, but how can that be when 3 or 4 teams dont even attempt to race.
Answer: it's expensive to race but doing a few laps is better not 0. all NASCAR says is as long as you can qualify for the race they have no say in how long you race. over time a small team can go from a "start and park" to one that can run the whole race then eventually over time get a little bigger if they're able to. if you were an owner of one of the "start and park" you'd rather race a few than 0 laps.
i bet if they did start to jump in and say you can't even try to qualify unless you can run the whole race then there will still be people complaining about NASCAR being to bossy and that they shouldn't tell the teams what to do so either way some people will always try finding something to b*tch about

How come Nascar hasnt done anything about Toyotas dominance of the Nationwide series?
In the past Nascar would add an aero package or restrictor plate to curb manufacturer dominance. Why the hell havent they done it to toyota yet? I remeber when Pontiac released the new Grandprix and was dominant Nascar couldnt kill their dominance fast enough, the same for Chevy, Ford & Dodge. Why the hell are they allowing Toyota to dominate? Nascar just sucks anymore especially since they started kissing Toyotas ass.
Answer: Yup, you just answered your own question, nascar hasn't done anything to toyota because they're busy kissing their assez and counting the money they're getting for their soul.

What Nascar game had you start in the truck series and get to better series after you win?
I remember one of the Nascar games when you start off as nobody in the truck series and then earn a contract for nationwide and then eventually the Sprint cup series, i really like the part of the game were you progress into higher series by winning and getting better contracts.
Answer: As far as I know, NASCAR 2005, 2006, 07, 08, and 09 do that, but I've only played those, and Thunder 2002, which doesn't do that. Also, you don't always start in the Truck series. If you don't do the qualifiers, you start in the whelen modified series and work your way up into the trucks and then further, but the qualifiers can put you in a higher series

A Laboratory for Getting Along
Parents at an elementary school here gathered last Thursday afternoon with a holiday mission: to prepare boxes of food for needy families fleeing some of the worlds horrific civil wars. What is the best way to market a website towards nascar fans?
I have a website Id like to expose to nascar fans and want to know a few creative ways to reach them. Im not sure what magazines would be best and would not be opposed to going to a few races and setting up a booth. Can you think of any other ideas?
Answer: NASCAR is a great niche to work on but there is a lot of competition. I suggest that you focus on one particular aspect of NASCAR racing to promote, then:
write some articles and submit them to article directories(include a link to your site in the resource)
start a blog and start talking about NASCAR
Create a Squidoo lense about nascar
buy some PPC traffic through Google adwords
join NASCAR forums and make lots of posts(Again, use link in signiture)
That should get you started!
Best of luck

What exactly would Nascar have to gain out of targeting Jeremy Mayfield?
He is playing this victim role. If anything, having the public know someone who is a meth user is participating in their sport makes the sport look bad. So why would they want to make someone look like a druggie when it hurts Nascars image as well.
Also his behavior to me seems like straight up addict behavior especially since addicts always feel someone is out to get them. Most think the cops, Jeremy Mayfield thinks Nascar is.
Answer: If Mayfield was innocent, then the only thing NASCAR could gain from targetting him, as long as they are successful in getting him out of the sport, is that they would have an example of their drug policy working and he would be the scapegoat.
If he did in fact take drugs, which is increasingly appearing likely, then what they gain is getting a dangerous driver off of the track, and showing that their policy is helping the overall sport.
The only thing that would make NASCAR look bad is if after all this the courts still side with Mayfield. That would show that NASCAR doesn't have its act together in enforcing drug policies and testing.

How much does it cost initially to purchase a nascar racing car?
I am a big fan of nascar and was wondering how much the inital investment would be to get a car and get on the track. like, do you have to have one built or can you buy a racing car. How do you get a driver? Also any information I am forgetting to ask about would be helpful.
Answer: People usually build cars themselves and hire drivers. There are also fees that NASCAR imposes for entering and regulations. It's a huge gamble as this could all be a bust as you aren't guaranteed in any races; you must qualify to enter the field. The stars you see on the track every week merely have the resources to make the field every week. The only income comes in the form of prize money unless you have a sponsor.

Giant Rises, and Shines
WE may look back on 2007 as the year public opinion shifted toward greener cars and trucks, a result of heightened concern about climate change and oil imports, coupled with high gas prices and a shift away from truckish S.U.V.s. Who pays for the jets to fly overhead at the beginning of Nascar races?
Does Nascar pay through the price of the ticket, or do taxpayers pay?
Answer: Those aircraft are usually already on routine flights and NASCAR ask the military if they can schedule some time to fly over the race, preferably at the beginning just as the National anthem is finished. They accommodate because it is good public relations. To answer your question we the taxpayers pay for every flight by any military aircraft.

What parts of the NASCAR car actually belongs to the manufacturers?
With the body design regulated by NASCAR, the tires by Goodyear and the gas by Sunoco which parts of the car is actually designed and built by Ford, Chevy, Chrysler, or Toyota? Im guessing it might be the engine and tranny? Any people in the know?
Answer: The engine blocks are about the only thing made by the manufacturer, and even they are special race-only parts. The heads, intake, and the rotating assembly are all aftermarket, or come from the individual race shop.
The tranny's are aftermarket pieces made by such companies as Jericho, Brinn, Bert, or a bunch of other tranny manufacturers.
The rear-ends are 9" Ford, but that's in name only. NASCAR's Cup series hasn't used a stock 9" Ford rear-end in over 25 years, or one made by Ford for that matter.
For those of you saying that the stickers come from the manufacturer, you are sadly mistaken. They are done either in-house, or bought from a decal maker/vinyl graphics company, such as the one I run. I made a new set of Fusion headlights, grill, Ford oval, name badge (Fusion), and foglights just last week for our car.
Someone else mentioned that the noses come from the manufacturer. Yes they come from **A** manufacturer, but they are not made by Ford, Dodge, chevy, nor Toyota. They come from companies such as Performance Bodies, 5-Star, or any of a hundred other racing body manufacturers. Yes, I know that the teams make their own bodies...at least for the most part...but they still get their noses from places such as those I listed. How do I know? There's one sitting behind me as I am typing this. It says "Performance Bodies" right on the back of it.
BTW... David W is right...the trunk lid is a stock piece (or at least it was on the last generation cars) straight from Ford, chevy, Dodge, and Toyota. The hood is a skin that is modified from a factory piece (the strengtheners are removed, and round steel rod is welded to the underside to stiffen it). the roof's, if they are factory, are just skins, but the last I know, they were fabricated by the individual race shops.

How can NASCAR be considered a sport when no physical activity takes place?
How? If NASCAR is considered a sport wouldnt that make pretty much everyone an athlete then?
Answer: First off put anyone in a car designed to go 190mph and hit walls at the speed they are more then likely to walk away not because they are an "athlete" but because that is what the cars are designed for. I think they consider it a sport because America is becoming lazier as time goes on and people are looking for any excuse to be an athlete. Tuckers drive more miles and climb in and out of their trucks more in one day the a NASCAR driver does once a week so would they be considered "super athletes" or it may be that the can still pee in a bottle while doing those speeds.

What do NASCAR drivers do during the race if they have to pee?
Im wondering what NASCAR drivers do if they have to pee during a race that lasts for hours. Do they have some way of relieving themselves in the car?
Answer: they can't skip drinking fluids before the race. auto racing takes a lot of fluids out of the body. i know F1 drivers lose more than 10 pounds of body weight during a race because of fluids lost. NASCAR drivers could be somewhere around 5. its very hot in the car. they may not have to pee at all with all the fluid loss. but if they do they do in their suit.

What is it that makes NASCAR so entertaining and interesting?
NASCAR fans please tell me why, because all you see is really fast cars driving in circles for a couple of hours and I dont get how people are entertained. Someone please clarify.
Answer: First and foremost, Their are no circle tracks in NASCAR. Here we have Ovals, Tri-Ovals, Quad Ovals, D-shaped Ovals and Road Courses.
Now to answer your question sir,
I like NASCAR because: WOW where to begin. The Speed, to stand next to the fence when a cup car roars by you at 200 mph, man you just can't beet that adrenaline rush! The Camaraderie about the sport. You just can't find it in any other sport.
You know what, instead of listening to me go on about my favorite sport. Just take the time and go to a race, and witness it first hand.

Can NASCAR influence the hotels surrounding the tracks during a race weekend?
Can NASCAR influence the hotels to stop jacking up their prices during a race weekend? Its a win, win situation for both parties. Because NASCAR can have more people in the grandstand and hotels can be fully booked during those weekends as well making their image look better and also have repeat customers.
Answer: NASCAR has an indirect affect, as people will be attending the races, most need a place to stay. As far as prices go, the rates usually go up. This is something Folks within Nascar, as well as fans have complained about.
For direct affect, the tracks often work with local hotels to offer ticket and room packages to save the fans money. I know my local track, Auto Club Speedway, partnered with Hilton to offer deals, and advertise Hilton at the track and on the track website.
There's very little the sanctioning body can do, they run the races, that's it. It's up to the individual race and track promoters to work with local government and businesses to attract fans.
