Who do you think would win between Edwin Valero vs Adrien Broner?
Imagine if Edwin Valero was still alive today. He had a 100% KO rate. How would he fare against a speedy tactician Adrien Broner?
@Salido, alright bro Ill wait! Thanks
Answer: I'm gonna wait until after this DeMarco fight before I answer. I'll be back...
________________
One thing's for certain is that they would both be each other's toughest opponent. They would also be the hardest puncher either has faced. I think it would be a toss up but I'm leaning towards Broner. Broner has the size advantage, and I'd also give him the edge on hand speed. Broner is a counter puncher, Valero is a swarmer. I think from sheer activity and aggression that Valero will win the early rounds and get Broner's respect with his power.. But Valero rarely feints, you pretty much know when he's gonna come in with an attack. I think Broner gets Dinamita's timing down by the 3rd or 4th round, starts slamming that left hook to the body, or up top considering Valero kept his hands very low at times. If the fight makes it past Rd 7, I think Broner's sustained body attack begins to take a toll on Valero and his punch output. This is a tough fight to call, but I'm going with Broner via 10th round stoppage.

What is now the most likely future for boxing?
Two years ago everyone taught that boxing is going to die after pacquiao,martinez,mayweather,... retire. But now after a very exciting year(2012) boxing looks to be back. A lot of super fights are approching and a few young superstars emergin. The probable Mayweather-Guerrero fight will be mainstream. But this time not only because of mayweather but because of huge undercard speciality featuring adrien broner and a possible big fight alvarez vs trout. This year we will probably have another pacquiao-marquez fight with another huge undercard probablu featuring gamboa hopefully fighting broner. The klitschkos will hopefully be challenged by prospects such as price, fury, wilder and possibly haye. Again the heavyweight divison will rise this year. Hopefully donaire would fight the best and if all goes the way its planned we should have the year when boxing will stop mma quick advancment and rise again. And for one thing i actually find golden boy promotions to be fair and could bring a lot to the sport unlike top rank. What do you think? What is the current status of boxing? Going down or up again? Will boxing stop mma from overtaking them?
Answer: Boxing will continue as it always had, but it might get better for the fighters, the more and more fighters are starting to promote them selves and cut out the leeches. Once this happens completely the sport will better.

Identity of man seen at Adrien Broner Fight Saturday night?
Does anyone know the identity of the black man with gray hair seen at many boxing matches in the ring when the decision in announced. Most recently seen at the Adrien Broner fight standing to the fighters left and wearing a yellow plaid shirt He was helping Broner put on his belts after the fight . He was also at the ESPN fight the night before. I have seen him at many fights and have never heard him interviewed or make any statements.
Answer: Is this the guy you are talking about (the one on the left)? http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.unifiedchamp.com/ucforum/attachment.php%3Fattachmentid%3D356%26d%3D1267655311&imgrefurl=http://www.unifiedchamp.com/ucforum/album.php%3Falbumid%3D34%26attachmentid%3D356&usg=__Mt6yF-MZzkK8equUAHbZzGi7YW8=&h=706&w=1061&sz=94&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=mmU2TofFkiq4xM:&tbnh=132&tbnw=168&ei=9L3_TdKLGcvViAKbzfy3Cw&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dsam%2Bwatson%2Bboxing%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1R2ADFA_enUS389%26biw%3D1345%26bih%3D585%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=2&page=1&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0&tx=77&ty=87
If that is the guy you are talking about, his name is Sam Watson. He works with Al Haymon, and is usually on site when Al's fighter's fight. Al Haymon is a very powerful manager in the Boxing business. Broner is an Al Haymon fighter.

Boxing: Are boxing fans being hyprocritical in their criticism of fighters moving up in weight?
Specifically, I see a lot of criticism of Adrien Broner for moving up to 147 and skipping guys at 140 to fight for Malinaggis title... But I never have heard one person criticize Robert Guerrero for doing the same thing to fight for Bertos title and now Mayweather...
Is the hypocrisy?
Answer: Robert Guerrero moved passed the Jr. Welterweight division and faced Seluck Aydin and Andre Berto two very tough Welterweight contenders. Guerrero wasn't handed a fight with Mayweather on a silver platter he worked for it.
With Adrien Broner I get the feeling that he's taking this opportunity to "cherry pick" a fight with someone who's for the most part considered the weaker champion and that's what I don't like. If Broner moved to Welterweight and faced Andre Berto, Victor Ortiz, Devon Alexander, or even a Kell Brook I'd understand the move, but he's skipping a weight class to capture a scrap belt.
We have to look at for what it is Adrian Broner is a skilled fighter but he's skipping a division filled with talent to face the weakest Welterweight title holder. Guys have been beating down the door to face Paul Malignaggi. Shane Mosley admitted he didn't have it anymore after losing to Saul Alvarez is now magically making an attempt at face Malignaggi once he gets a belt...that should say something.

Who do you rank higher pound for pound Brian Viloria or Adrien Broner?
Brian Vilorias biggest career victory is the victory over former number 10 pound for pound Giovani Segura which he was a huge underdog but he still won by KO.
Adrien Broners biggest victory is his impressive TKO over Antonio De Marco who was ranked the number 1 lightweight in the world by Ring Magazine.
@STICK, great answer. I agree that both arent really deserving of the top 15 pound for pound as of yet. Although Viloria does have a better winning streak than Broner as far as the level of competition. Conversely, Broner is much younger than Viloria so he may have a better opporunity to raise his stocks since Viloria has been to so many brawling wars and may be declining in two or three years in my opinion.
Answer: Honestly, I don't think either of them break the top 15 P4P.
Looking at their records' (as of late), I think Viloria has done better. Going by name opponents, the two best guys Broner has beat are DeMarco and Ponce De Leon. The two best guys Viloria has beat are Segura and Tyson Marquez.
Both are VERY close, and it's hard to decide, but I favor Viloria over Broner in that respect. I like Marquez a lot, and he was coming on big time before Viloria layed him out.
Definitely close, but I would rank Viloria over Broner at this point, although I won't deny their P4P status is very close at this point.
They should only be separated by one or two spots IMO (no matter who you pick), so this is a great quetion JON.
EDIT: I agree, Viloria has been on a nice run. I can't wait to see him fight Roman Gonzalez, that dude is one of the best punchers in the sport. Something always rubbed me wrong w/ Viloria though.
He's very talented/well rounded, and for sure knows what he's doing in the ring, but he's lost to people that he shouldn't have. I don't really know how to describe it, he's only got three losses, which isn't too bad considering how many fights he has.
I just always considered him to be sort of erratic, kind of unreliable. I keep thinking he's hit his stride and will start dominating his divisionn, and then he'll go and lose to somebody that's not on his level.
It's whatever though, Gonzalez was in in line to ge the winner of Viloria/Marquez, and him against either is great. I'm looking reaally forward to it (if it happens), HBO or Showtime should dish out the money for that fight, b/c these little dudes deserve the credit/payday and the fight should be guaranteed fireworks.

What are your Predictions for Saturdays Fights?
1. Maidana vs Alexander
2. Adrien Broner vs Eloy Perez
3. Povetkin vs Huck
My predictions
1. Maidana by TKO
2. Broner by UD (but I hope Eloy pulls the upset)
3. Povetkin by UD
Answer: 1. Maidana vs Alexander: I would normally be rooting for Maidana, and I said before I was taking him by TKO, but Alexander's odds are really good, so I put some money down on him and gotta root for him.
After looking at Maidana's record, I feel like Alexander has a really good chance of winning a decision. Maidana lost to Khan, and he lost to Kotelnik.
He barely got by an old and past his prime Chop Chop Corley too. Chino's really good, but he's very crude and slow on his feet. Alexander may have lost his last two fights (at least in my eyes), but he's definitely got skill and is a very good Boxer.
That combined with the fact the fight is in St. Louis, and only ten rounds, I feel like this fight will be a decision for Alexander.
2. Broner vs Perez: I know basically nothing about Perez. He's undefeated, and judging by his low knockout percentage, I'd assume he's at least a decent Boxer. Broner is a better puncher for sure, and I have a hard time thinking Perez would be as good, let alone better. I like Broner big time by a late round TKO or a decision.
3. Povetkin vs Huck: I like Povetkin all day in this fight. Huck is a very good Cruiserweight, Povetkin is a very good Heavyweight. That's all you really got to know. I heard this week that Huck wants to come in at around 250lb. That's f*cking crazy, and utterly retarded. The little speed and athletiscm he might have will go right out the window if that's the case.
I think Povetkin is gonna stop Huck in the mid to late rounds. I've seen a lot of people going with Huck actually, and I don't get that at all. Should be a pretty good fight though.

what are adrien broners plus minus compubox stats and why is his name never on the list?
the updated stats have just been released, mayweather still top of course but still no broner why is this?
yeah i understand what your saying about him getting hit a lot but there are people on the list with like -5plus minus so im sure that he wouldnt be that bad despite getting hit more than expected.
Answer: Broner has good defense, but he stands in the pocket and still gets touched more than you'd think.
He's not nearly as defensively sound as a guy like Floyd or SOG, or Rigondeaux. Maybe he could be, but his mentality is more of a fighter than a boxer IMO, otherwise he wouldn't stand in front of people so much.
EDIT: I'm not sure what Broner's average or all-time plus-minus is, but for instance in his last fight against Reese he landed 48% of his punches (which is great), but he also got tagged w/ 34% of Reese's shots, which is not too good all things considered.

Question about tonights HBO Boxing Main Event: Adrien Broner vs Gavin Rees?
1) Despite that all of us believe that Adrien Broner would likely win, do you think Broner would lopsidely win or do you think Gavin Rees would put up a good fight?
2) How big do you think this main event is?
3) Do you think Adrien Broner would certainly be one of boxings next mega star after Pacquiao and Mayweather?
4) If Broner wins this fight(which is very likely), who would you want him to fight next?
Answer: 1. Broner has a size, speed, and youth advantage on Rees.I believe Broner will win easily, probably easier than his win against Demarco.
2. It's not that big of an event. It's more of a showcase for Broner to flash his skills against a completely over matched opponent.
3. Broner is being groomed for that, but in order to maintain that he will have to step up his level of competition. You can't go around saying you're the best while fighting much smaller and over matched guys.I really don't think he will take as many tough fights to capture the public's interest,to become a megastar on the level of Pacquiao or Mayweather.
4. I want him to fight Burns or Vazquez or both and then move up to 140lbs.I don't think he will move up anytime soon,he'll probably just wait until the best in that division move up or get old.I can see him fighting Rios or Gamboa though. Those are favorable match ups for him.

Does the boxer Adrien Broner have what it takes to beat Floyd Mayweather Jr.?
If Adrien Broner moved up to welter weight and Floyd was willing to fight him.
Answer: It would be a very interesting match up between the two if it ever took place. Adrien has the speed and power to match up to Mayweather in every way. The problem is Adrien's defense. Mayweather has by far the best defense for his size. He utilizes different defensive tactics and techniquest used by legends. Although Adrien is younger and possibly much hungrier for a win, it would most likely end up being a very technical and boring match for most viewers.
There would be lot of hesitation and one punch swings throughout the fight. It would definitely go to the scorecards. Mayweather is not known to be a heavy hitter and most likely would not ko Adrien. Although Adrien does have the power he would have trouble getting through Mayweathers defense.
Good question!

Adrien Broner open to fights at 135, 140, and 147 - Bad Left Hook
Following last night's jump to welterweight and a close win over Paulie Malignaggi, Adrien Broner says he's comfortable at 147, but will think about fights at 135 or 140, too.
What do you think of Takashi Uchiyama?
is he a pretty good fighter? good enough to beat Adrien Broner?
Answer: Yeah he definitely seem pretty good. He's got a couple of good knockout wins over Juan Carlos Salgado and Jorge Solis.
I don't think he's good enough to beat a Broner or Gamboa though. Uchiyama is slow, and I don't know if he could get close enough to the fast guys and hurt them.

Do you look at espn rankings or ring megazine rankings?
Which rankings do you think is better espn or ring megazine? For me its espn because there are guys who are and should be ranked in the top.
For example carl froach, guillermo rigondeax, nonito donaire are guys who are ranked in espn but not ring megazine these guys should absolutly be at the top.
But in ring megazine you got guys like adrien broner, abner mares and saul alvarez who are ranked way to high.
Answer: The ring magazine is making a joke of itself now.
nothing beats Announcing Robert Guerrero as FighterOTY for beating Andre HypeJob Berto!!!!!
Then chucking him in the the top 10 pfp and number 3 at welter, all to try and convince the readers that the floyd fight will be competetive!!!
Horrendous!
Then once he loses like he's supposed to he's removed and replaced by Alvarez!!
That magazine is a mess.
Its a shame because Fighter of the Year was a great award!

What do you think the pound for pound list will look like 5 years from now?
I personally think...
1. Andre Ward
2. Adrien Broner
3. Nonito Donaire
4. Canelo Alvarez
5. Garry Russell Jr.
Answer: Well you include a bunch of very successful boxers in your list. However, I am not sure what you mean by pound for pound comparison 5 years from now. Those 5 athletes will most likely not be at the top of their profession anymore and some new, currently unknown faces will have eclipsed them.

Do you honestly believe that Adrien Broner currently is better than Wladimir Klitschko pound for pound?
http://ringtv.craveonline.com/ratings
WTF is going on with the rankings? Broner at number six pound for pound and Robert Guerrero at number 10? Broner is a good boxer but he has not beat anyone significant. Antonio De Marco who? Was he in anyones top 30 best fighters?
Answer: No ,Adrien Broner keeps moving up in weight instead of cleaning out the divisions. Wladimir Klitschko on the other hand has cleaned out the heavyweigh division and has dominated for years.
Adrien Broner needs to stay put in one weight class and dominate for a while ,then he can be compared to the top P4P.

Do you think Adrien Broner is the next Mayweather?
I really havent watched much Broner, aside from a few highlights. But judging from what Ive read and the compubox numbers it doesnt look like it.
Mayweather usually outlands his opponents like 200-85, but Broner has already had a few drawish fights with almost equal compubox stats.
And mayweather is much more defensive and smart.
