Is it worth buying an xbox 360 in 2011?

My main point is is it worth buying it now because i have heard about natal(xbox3) and ps4 coming out next year
If not which console would you guys suggest me

Answer: There has been no official announcements made about the xbox3/ps4. We know they are under development, but neither Sony nor Microsoft has shown anything about them yet.

E3 2011 just occurred and the only new hardware shown was the PS-Vita (PSP2/NGP) and the Wii-U ("Wii-HD") Not even the game studios are whispering about new home console hardware from Microsoft of Sony.

Both the PS3 and 360 are selling just fine, and with this economy, it makes no sense for either company to rush a new $400-500 console to market.

Honestly I don't think we'll see a new Playstation or Xbox before 2013 or even 2014.

I also don't see any price drops for 2011. Amazon, Target and Walmart will have occasional deals where they'll give you a $50 or $100 gift card with the purchase of a qualified system package but that's about it.

So if you want a 360, go buy one. Don't even wait until Black Friday.

Im going to Black Friday this year, Im wondering if you have any tips for me?

Hi, my name is Cat. I am going to Black Friday this year at Best Buy and Walmart. I am going to go to Best Buy at 12AM on Friday. And I am going to Walmart at 5AM on Friday too. At Best Buy, I am going to buy the 40" Tobisha. Do you think I will get the TV???? And at Walmart I want to buy a: DSI XL, a Ematic 7" Tablet and a MP3 player. If not, what time should I get there??? And how does Black Friday work at Walmart????

Answer: Do I think you'll get the TV on Black Friday? No. Most Black Friday offers only apply to 1 or 2 physical items per store. If you're #3 in line or later, you pretty much are going to miss out.

As for the stuff in general, unless you need something as a gift, it's generally better to just wait until January. Why? Because the 2013 models of most electronics, like phones and TVs, get announced at CES - the big trade show that happens every year just after New Years. As a result, all the stores immediately try to get rid of their 2012 stuff that didn't sell earlier...by marking it down. All of it. So if you miss Black Friday on that TV, well, they're all going to get marked down in January. In fact, Christmas time is the worst time to buy a TV because, except for the doorbusters, everything is at full price. Same goes for the tablet and MP3 player.

As for the DSi XL, its price is unlikely to change as its set by Nintendo - not the stores. Even the bundles will continue to be available throughout Christmas so unless there's a real need to get it *now* just go in later.

I know it's tempting but honestly once you analyze the prices and the stores' strategies you realize Black Friday is mostly a sham. A bunch of stuff gets marked up to full price so they can say "25% off!" which...is actually what it was selling for BEFORE Black Friday. Stores are tricky that way...they want your money.

As for Black Friday at Walmart, well if last year was any indication, it doesn't work very well.
Step 1: Pack in around the doors pushing and shoving to get into position.
Step 2: Burst into the store!
Step 3: Run for the area you're targeting. Be sure to throw some elbows to take out competitors.

Tips:
1: Pepper spray can help thin the crowd.
2: Do not fall. You will never get back up again.

Whats the best cheap yet good camcorder to use for Youtube???

Hi im starting to make a lot of YouTube videos and its been alright for like the first year but now I wanna take it to the next level with my camera quality. Right now ive been using my webcam because my IPhone camera broke and so I needed to use something for my YouTube videos. I think I saved up enough to get me a okay camera but it cant be in like the hundreds...I just need something that is good enough to entertain my YouTubers. I want something that has HD quality and has a mic included into it. I want probably a handycam for it and if you can please have a camcorder that is in like Best Buy or Walmart. Answer: Most digital cameras take video and a camera like the Fujii finepix would be great for youtube videos , it records in HD and also takes some great stills and the older models from last year and the 2013 models will be sold on black Friday for good prices probably , maybe in the $150 range which is a bargain

If you don't want to wait until then best buy has some good deals on sony , jvc and canon camcorders now , some are nearly half price . check their website and sort by price .

Should I buy the Best Buy Accidental Protection Plan for my new laptop?

Should I buy the Best Buy Accidental Protection Plan for my new laptop.
Yesterday I bought from Best Buy, a brand new Sony Vaio VPCEB11FM laptop for $729.99. I love the laptop so far and am having no issues with it. I have 14 days to decide if I want to buy one of their protection plans. I am wondering if the protection plan is even worth the money however. The accidental protection plan at first glance seems like a good deal. If you accidentally break the latop in certain ways, then if it qualifies best buy will simply repair it or replace it. Are these plans a good deal? Or at they a rip off?
I am considering, simply saving up 500 to 1000 dollars for my own laptop emergency fund in case I need to ever replace or repair one my laptops. Perhaps this is simply the best idea.
Some very good answers so far! But does anyone have any supporting documentation for buying one? I just remember the best buy guy saying, "And if you check out all the sites like CNET and the others you will see they all recommend our protection plans."

Answer: I would stay away from any type of protection plan. I've never bought a protection plan for any laptop I've ever bought. In my opinion I've found that it's never worth the money.

5 years ago on Black Friday I bought a Toshiba laptop for $350 without a protection plan. 5 years later that machine is still kicking (but the battery only lasts 30 minutes!). I never needed the protection plan.

I just did some quick "Google Research" and discovered the same thing I've always suspected:

1. Electronic stores make more money off the extended service plans than any other product. Most people aren't aware that stores only make 10% profit off electronics like laptops and desktops. They have to make up for that loss by offering protection plans and overpriced accessories! Come on, Best Buy charges $39 for a USB cable? You can get one for $7 at Walmart or $3 at eBay!

2. Protection plans are often outsourced to companies with very poor customer service. I've read that Best Buy is NOTORIOUS for not backing up the terms of their protection plan, and making it extremely difficult to even get the work done. Not worth it.

3. You have to wait 6 weeks or more for the defective hardware to be replaced. Waiting that long is not worth saving $150 or $200! God forbid you get stuck in a piss poor customer service repeat loop in which you wait 2-3 months for a repaired system. Forget that!

4. You often pay for something you never need. Why pay for a service you probably will never need? It just seems like throwing good money after bad! Put $199 to good use!

5. You're betting the odds that you laptop will fail within 2 or 3 years of purchase. My experience has taught me that they usually last 4 to 7 years before failing. Ever heard of Self Fulfilling Prophecy? Since you're even slightly believing that you system could fail odds are higher that it will actually fail! Bad vibes.

Bottom line is that protection plans are not worth the money you'd spend. Save that $199 for your next laptop (in 2013) and be happy.

lcd tv longevity question?

any one know how long a lcd tv lasts? i have sony 2008 46in thats still going strong. i keep the vents vacuumed and keep it clean. just curious how many years to expect out of it.

Answer: Sandberg is right about manufacturer's claims.
But that's about all they are.
These days it's the luck of the draw.
Lamps on DLPs are supposed 3,000 to 6,000 hrs, but I've seen some not last 1,000 and a couple over 10,000.
Pay attention to the extended warranties. Their longest plans made available approximate 1 yr shorter than its life expectancy for an average user.
If you have the TV on 12 or more hours a day, 7 days a week, expect it to last shorter.
But generally speaking, and on the average, if you you get a par quality piece, it should last between 60,000 to 80,000.
The LEDs are "supposed" to have the longest shelf lives of the new technologies.
Also consider how much you paid for it. I have an Emerson TV from a Walmart black Friday sale, but I bought it in 2009 for 250. I expect it to last well into 2013, but even now one of the hdmi ports have lost functionality.

Which store is the best for black friday?

So today my dad and i were deciding to go to black friday 2013. The only bad thing is we dont have experience on black friday. What time should i go to best buy. ( i live in CA, Los angeles.)

Answer: Black Friday is a scam. Don't bother.

Stores will advertise a few big deals - like $500 off a TV for instance - but in reality, each store only has 1 or 2 of that specific model in stock. So if the item you wanted to buy is sold out by the time you get into the store, well, too bad! How about this other model that's at full price?

As a result, people start lining up hours - even days - before the stores open for Black Friday. Even the name "Black Friday" is a lie because many stores are starting to hold "Black Friday" sales earlier and earlier. Walmart, for instance, now starts its "Black Friday" on Thanksgiving evening! That's right! The employees barely have enough time to gulp down a few bites of turkey with their families before having to show up for work! And the moron shoppers will have started lining up as early as Wednesday night.

Worst of all, however, is the fact that Black Friday is the worst time to go shopping. For instance, if you just wait until January, all the stores put ALL their TVs on sale - with better deals than what they had for Black Friday. This is because the new models start arriving in February and the stores have to make room. Sheets and towels tend to go on sale in January and February as well, again with better deals than Black Friday. So, simply learning when to shop for certain items, you can get better deals and avoid the stupidity of Black Friday altogether.

Christmas gifts for co-workers?

I know its only September, but Ive got a good sized amount of shopping done already. Im one of those that finishes up on Black Friday. I have 5 co-workers to buy for that are in their early 20s, two of them being men. I have no idea what to get! We dont all really get along that well; however, Id like to them all to know that they are appreciated. I, too, dont want to spend more than $5. Please dont suggest food or chocolates. thanks!

Answer: I usually do some baking, but some workplaces end up with way too much food at Christmas time. My friend buys the craft kits that make 20 - 30 small Christmas tree ornaments and makes them for her co-workers. You can make a different one each year.

Another crafty idea is to make desktop calendars. They can choose to use them at work or take them home and use them. You could add photos from workplace events. The Canon Creative Park website has the best ideas for this papercraft. Their 2013 calendars likely won't be available until after Halloween, but you might also consider making one of their perpetual calendars.
