As far as I know, Illinois just recently changed their law to allow for on-line purchases of lottery tickets. It specifically says on their website, however, that you MUST reside in the state of Illinois when you make the purchase.

My bank, Navy Federal Credit Union has a $50,000 daily teller withdraw limit unless 24 hours notice is given for amounts over that and a minimum of 7 day notice of withdraws over $1,000,000. The branch of my bank I use is also very large, some banks, like those inside grocery stores wont have even $10,000 to give out. You can request your money through your bank and it will take some time, how much I don't know, I would guess a few weeks to have even 25% of that brought over in cash from a depository. You will certainly get your money, but it will take time.

What do you guys think about the new Mega Millions game matrix?

New matrix is 5/75 and 1/15. I like to play the lottery sporadically, but I cant see what is so fun about playing mega millions new odds of 1 in 259M.

I feel that buying 1 mega millions ticket for every drawing is not enough to have a chance of winning. 5 or 10 tickets in one drawing will be better.
Some lottery players feel that saving lines to buy more tickets in one particular drawing is better than buying 1 lottery ticket for every drawing.

Buy 50 tickets. Buy 50 tickets each and every drawing for the next 70 years of your life. Guess what? By any practical measure, you will still have ZERO chance of ever hitting any sort of lottery jackpot. It's just never going to happen.

What do I think of the new matrix? Honest to God, it just makes no difference. The Mega Millions (and almost all lotteries) has a 50% payback rate. So if they sell $100 million for one drawing, they are only going to put approximately $50 million in towards prizes. It's pathetic.

At a 50% payback rate, no other standard form of gambling on the planet comes even close to being as bad a bet as playing the lottery. ALL forms of the lottery, regardless of the matrix, are a TAX on the poor and on the ignorant.

Believe me - I know. I was far too ignorant for far too long. No more.

How high does the Mega Millions jackpot have to be before it becomes statistically profitable to buy a ticket?

The odds of winning the mega millions jackpot are 1 in 176 million and tickets are one dollar, so how high would the advertised jackpot have to be to get more than $176,000,000 via the cash option and after taxes (assuming 6% state income tax and not sharing the jackpot with someone else?).

I know they automatically withold 29% or something for federal taxes, but I hear it never ends up being enough and you have to pay more.

I a friend of mine asked me how to play the mega millions in Wisconsin I didnt know how play it so I was wondering if anyone knows how to play it or have played it before.

Answer: 1. Go somewhere that sells tickets, most gas stations and a lot of grocery stores sell them

2. You have 2 options when purchasing your ticket/tickets. First you can choose your own numbers, in the store there will be slips and you fill it out with your chosen numbers and then the clerk will run it through the computer and print out your ticket. Your other option is just walking up to the clerk and asking for the quick pick option, with this option the lottery computer will randomly choose your numbers for you. If you don't know you choose or receive 6 numbers, 5 regular numbers between 1-56 and one Mega ball number between 1-46

3. After you have your ticket/tickets you can watch the drawing on TV, get the results online at the Wisconsin Lottery site several hours after the drawing or the next day/days, or even take it to a place that sells tickets and they will check it for you. I recommend the first two options.
