what hidden gems have you seen recently?
The other night i was channel surfing and came across a film called Keeping Up With The Steins.
It was about the lead up to a Jewish boys Bar Mitzvah and the strife his family goes through. it was funny as fuck and more than a little moving as well.
Anyone else come across any hidden gems recently? Also, anyone else know the film im on about?
Answer: Perhaps the most under rated, and definitely most shocking film of the year is Martyrs. This low budget French psychological horror takes a while to get started, but once it does you will be truly horrified - it sticks two fingers up to the torture-porn Hollywood obsession of films such as Hostel.
Red is the story of a man who wants justice after his beloved dog is killed. Sounds strange, but it is a gripping little American film with an Oscar worthy performance from Brian Cox.
In The Loop is a hilarious and sadly all too realistic fictional portrayal of American and British politics, based on the BBC TV show The Thick Of It. Peter Capaldi is absolutely magnificent in this, and there is a great performance from James Gandolfini of Sopranos fame.
And coming to cinemas this Friday is one of the best films of recent years - Kathryn Bigelow's The Hurt Locker. A devastating, realistic and gripping story of a bomb disposal unit in war torn Iraq.
Check them out!

There are two endings to this movie. You and I saw this one:
The second ending has Lea emerging out of the light into another house: an exact replica of the last one. In the foyer are four people watching her, each with his/her own large bag of money. The camera zooms in on Lea, who realizes that her bag only contains $1 million. As she grips the shard of glass through her scarf, a resigned and sorrowed look grows on her face as a single tear forms in her eye.
