What is the best way to start up a part-time Mobile DJ Business?
I work full-time in the health care industry and lack much business sense. I want to find a way to play maybe 3-4 gigs/month to supplement my income. I have equipment, have done maybe 10 different gigs ranging from wedding receptions, house and birthday parties but have yet to market myself effectively aside from word of mouth. I guess if people share how they have gotten started it would be helpful. Thanks.
Answer: Try and get yourself listed in the telephone directory book. Maybe a simple website with a description of your services/prices/contact information. This along with word of mouth will most likely be enough for you to book 3-4 gigs a month if not more..
I'm not sure where you are but you may be required to keep records of your income do.. This can be done quite easily but make sure you do to avoid any issues with the TAX man.
All the best :) Feel free to E-mail me for any more help (dpdonohue@lavabit.com)

Can the US Gov force a regulation on a private company?
In this case im talking about the Lavabit situation on which the Gov wanted something done with Lavabit (dont know for sure, a gag order was ordered) and they preferred to be shut down. Probably something with a way to access private emails. Question is can the gov do that, can they force someone to either modify their company or shut it down in the name of encryption and the bills and laws allowing them to do so. Thanks
To clarify, i realize there are safety regulations and health and all that, perhaps im asking if the government has the privilege to be able to "spy" or gather intelligence from this email service.

Lavabit vs Hushmail....?
Which one is more secured lavabit or hushmail...or do you guys know anything better.
Answer: Hushmail.
Using "SSL Labs" (https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/index.html ) we find that Hushmail rates a grade "A";
Lavabit rates a "B", due to it's vulnerability to the "Beast" attack (https://community.qualys.com/blogs/securitylabs/2011/10/17/mitigating-the-beast-attack-on-tls

Best email now for privacy & security (after death of lavabit)?

For those of you who value privacy, I recommend Startpage search engine, or Duck Duck Go. Today, my favorite email client, Lavabit.com, willingly closed their doors, because they refused to hand over their algorithm, information, and passwords to the federal government. Lavabit, is (was) the email client Edward Snowden used as well.

What do you think of lavabit email service vs hotmail?
I cant decide what to use as my primary email. Ive used lavabit for a while, its great but I like all the features, services, and integration of hotmail/live.
I have both accounts, but which one should I use? My lavabit address has an underscore in it, and Ive heard that is bad to use on resumes and things.
And I know, Im an email junkie (7 different email accounts so far.) :)
Will lavabit be around for a while? Whats more professional?
Answer: Personally I just don't like the sound of blahblah@hotmail.com i've had so seen so many crooked looking hotmail addresses that it puts me off. Lavabit's name sounds better.
Lavabit downside: only 1GB storage, small these days, also they deliberately don't use decent anti-spam with the free account. (things move fast, they'll probably up the storage soon).
Longevity - Email is so cheap to run, they will probably be around forever, especially since some of the accounts are paid.
Underscore in address, unlikely to matter, it is a tiny risk though.
