A SURPRISE SNOWSTORM LEADS TO TRAFFIC SNARLS
A light but quick snowstorm caught New York weather forecasters with their radar down yesterday, causing widespread rail, bus and traffic delays during the morning rush hour. The storm kind of sneaked up on us, said Tom Grant, a forecaster at the Manhattan office of the National Weather Service. Its full force hit at about midnight Monday, with winds gusting as high as 29 miles an hour. The storm dumped an average of 2 inches of snow on the city and surrounding suburbs in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
