Tarkanian Still Upset
Coach Jerry Tarkanian of top-ranked University of Nevada-Las Vegas continued to be upset yesterday over a visit to his campus on Monday and Tuesday by two National Collegiate Athletic Association enforcement representatives. I was shocked to learn that it was a violation for a prospective student athlete to participate with current team members in the off season without any coaches present, the coach said. To my knowledge, that has gone on as long as Ive been coaching, by practically every school and every player in the country. But in our case, they told us it was a violation.
