Comedy Central’s hit late-night show “The Colbert Report” announced Monday that the executive most closely associated with the show, Allison Silverman, was leaving her position as executive producer, effective immediately. No official reason was given for Ms. Silverman’s departure, nor was a replacement named. A Comedy Central spokeswoman said that with the series on hiatus for three weeks, no one was available to comment. But one executive from the cable channel said Ms. Silverman herself had initiated the change because she was seeking a respite from the exhausting demands of the job. In an official statement, the show’s Stephen Colbert said, “I am happy for my dear friend, but I will miss her.” In her official comment, Ms. Silverman said, “For me, the only thing that could top working with Stephen Colbert would be having Stephen Colbert as a lifelong friend, and I am very excited to start that project.” Ms. Silverman has been with the show since it began in October 2005, originally as co-head writer.
