Spain train crash : Latest News, Information, Answers and Websites

If civil war was to break out in any given European nation state, which one is most likely to experience this?

With the E.U open borders policies, coupled with the increased Islamic migration to all major Western European countries ? Is civil disobedience avoidable or is it inevitable and if so in which country will this be likely to happen 1st?

Answer: It already happened in the former Yugoslavia.

The EU states and the US fell over themselves in the rush to recognise "non-Communist" states when a unified Yugoslavia would have been a better option for the Balkan peoples and would have perhaps mitigated the ethnic conflict effects of civil war. As it is the US now has a permanent military presence in bases between Russia and Western Europe that straddle oil and gas supply routes.

The world economic crisis is fuelling social discontent. In Europe the crisis is, at present, most acute in Greece, Portugal, and Spain - countries that have the lowest Islamic presence. But Greece, Portugal and Spain have population profiles that has a lot of young people and it is young people that make revolutions and become most radicalised. It is no coincidence that we are seeing in those countries the most radical protests in Europe against their governments and the policies demanded by the likes of the IMF and the World Bank.

Civil disobedience in all three of those countries is already taking on revolutionary overtones. As with other revolutionary waves it will spread as the crisis deepens. Given the "austerity" measures being taken by European governments, including our own, discontent will spread. If you compare the current economic situation with that of the Crash of 1929 we are, at the moment, in the situation of the USA during the Hoover Administration, where market solutions were considered to be the only available ones, prior to Roosevelt and his serendipitous adoption of the New Deal and Keynesian economics.

Civil disobedience is not avoidable, and the Cameron Government know it. Not for nothing are senior Army officers outraged at the fact that the Tory Government has had military personnel training to run prisons in the event of a strike by prison officers while Cameron and company open new war fronts while cutting back on the armed services and police forces. That is only one example. Look at the reception that Theresa May got at the Police Federation conference.

Predicting civil discontent country by country is next to impossible. But, given the worldwide nature of the current economic crisis, it has to be one of the weakest links in the capitalist chain - like Russia in 1917 - and one with a high proportion of young people in its population.

Spanish Train Crash Captured on Video - NYTimes.com

Security-camera footage leaked to the public via YouTube captured the moment on Wednesday that a passenger train derailed outside Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain, killing at least 78 people.

Now that Germany has been identified as the e.coli culprit AFTER it BLAMED Spain, How much does it owe Spain?

for destroying its vegetable industry?

Answer: In logic and justice, the authors of the false report are liable for all direct and consequential loss resulting from their action. If the authors were acting under the auspices of the German state or any of its branches, then the State itself is jointly and separately liable; one is liable for the deeds of an employee, just as if an employed driver crashed a vehicle and killed someone. Do not, either, forget the media in Germany and elsewhere who leapt on the scandal story to blame Spain, without a scrap of evidence, for unhygienic practices, much compounding the damage. They must take some of the blame.

By the time the loss to farmers, farm workers, transport companies and their workers who would have carried the goods abroad, the consequential loss to all providers of goods and services to these people and lost tax revenue to the Spanish government have been totalled, it will come to a pretty penny. Add to this that the loss will continue into the future. There will (as in all interrupted trade) be loss of goodwill. Even if buyers returned en bloc next year the farms will be handicapped: workers will have moved on causing recruitment and training expenses, the short-term cashflow problem already suffered will have disrupted the even flow of planting, re-equipment and so on.

However, this is Germany, one of the big cheeses in the EU; and that is Spain, a truly minuscule cheese with little political clout. The French will back Germany. Much will be said, very little done, and almost no money actually paid over. Spain will almost certainly miss out.

I wish it were not so; it would be nice if for once politicians and the media were given a caning to remind them to put a bite on their tongues until they have the facts.

P.S.
Guess which nation now stands accused of failing to wash its hands after visiting the toilet!

Whats your response to Tea Party terrorists bombing the train in Spain?

"Right wing operatives of the US Political movement known as the Tea Party bombed a Spanish train today in hopes of shaking confidence in the European system of rail-based mass transit. The bombers, who are believed to have been funded by a pair of Billionaire brothers from the US were apparently trying to use terror tactics in an attempt to spur greater oil consumption in Europe, which would drive up the price of oil and gasoline futures in the US, thereby spurring greater disapproval of the US President."

How can i get around Europe if i backpacking for 3 months?

I know about eurail but im concerned about when i get off of thhe air plain in the united kingdom and need to get to the underwater train then when i get off the train i need to get to paris, france. But i dont know if there are any buses when i get off the train. Or when i need to travel to train stations from my hostel? or just when i need to get around Europe? I am going to the united kingdom, france, italy, greece, austria, romania, spain, portugal, sweden, and finland. So do those places have local buses or transportation like that? Im going alone so i need everything figured out before i go.

Answer: trains are the way to travel in Europe. or by car, walking, bicycle.
suggest you hang out at universities and meet local students, make friends that may be willing to let you crash at their place, saving you lots of money.
also do not bring cash, have your money in your bank at home . use a debit card at any ATM to get local currency. , BUT MAKE sure YOU tell your bank that you will use your debit card in Europe so that they do not cut you off.
Also travel very light. do not take unnecessary things along. you can always buy things locally if you really need it. you do not need a change of clothes every day.
and be street wise. behave like a traveler not a tourist

Hey you liberals and haters of America....How does it feel to know that 40% of post 9/11 terrorist are dead?

MADRID, Spain (Associated Press) - They rose up quickly to take up
Osama bin Ladens call for jihad, ruthless men in their 20s and 30s heralded as the next generation of global terror.

Two years later, 40 percent are dead, targets of a worldwide crackdown that claimed its biggest victory with the killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, al-Qaidas front man in
Iraq.

While there are still recruits ready to take up al-Qaidas call to arms, analysts say the newcomers have fewer connections than the men they are replacing, less training and sparser resources.

"There are more people popping up than are being put away," said Magnus Ranstorp, a terrorism expert at the Swedish National Defense College. "But the question is whether the new ones have the fortitude to take up the mantle and carry the struggle forward. I dont see that they have."

I thought you might like a little background.
For those of you who think that Liberals love America and hated the terrorist attacks of 9/11 just go to democraticunderground.com and you can read what they really think in their own words.

Answer: Thanks, big guy. You have a point. However, not all liberals think this way. Many of my liberal friends were horrified at 9/11, and are glad that the terrorists are geeting what's coming to them, and support the war on terror as long as we have the moral upper hand. I find that the reaction of certain liberal citizens in California during 9/11 was interesting to say the least. Among the statements I heard at the Berkeley campus was things like, "They got what they deserved," "It is New York, it might as well be a different planet for all I care," "I didn't like the World Trade Center, it was a symbol of capitalist oppression and excess," and "Too bad they didn't get more of those pricks when they crashed. That would have really taught the US a lesson." Thank you for showing us your true colors, California!

how did the wall street crash affect the world outside of america?

1929 one, how many have their been?

Answer: The Wall Street Crash (of 1929) affected most of the World. In Europe the interdependence of economies meat that their stock markets also faced similar crashes. Nowhere would the effects be so hard hitting as in Germany.
Germany was struggling to pay its WWI reparations, and it took a load of cheap American loans to fund them. When Wall Street crashed the American bankers called in the loans and Germany was bankrupted. Inflation and unemployment returned to Germany - not on the scale of the early 1920s but enough to terrify most German people; they began to seek answers from the political extremes.
In the pre-industrial World - the colonies of Britain, France and Spain the effects were less as they were mostly self-sufficient, although prices for imported goods would have gone up.
In the Soviet Union it had a beneficial affect, the Soviet Union was embarking on a massive industrialisation programme, and the Wall Street Crash allowed them to purchase cheap machinery and the expertise to install, operate and train new workers. The Soviets also benefited from the increase in grain prices caused both by the crash and the devastation of US farming - the Dust Bowl. This increased their finances so they were able to buy more machinery and push their industrialisation on considerably - the first Five Year Plan (1928 - 1933) was completed in four years.

How much would it be to go to Europe for 1 month?

im planning on going to Europe for 1 month and id like to know how much a plane ticket there and back would be plus living expences like food a place to crash and stuff like that. i know i didnt give a exact place of Europe but just a estimation of how much i live in los angeles CA i plan on going next summer 2014 so how much do you think it would be and how much would it be to rent a vehicle and have extra pocket money?
okay then i wanna go to rome then so estimate a price

Answer: Prices depend on exactly where you're starting from, when you go (prices vary a lot), how long you stay, where you go in Europe, how you get around, the kind of places you stay in and what you see/do/eat. People who backpack generally can get by for$100 per day staying in cheap hostels and carefully watching their budget (not including airfare). However, if you stay in hotels, it will cost you more. I usually spend 100 to 150 euro a night for a hotel just for myself, but there are cheaper places.

Here are some resources that can help you plan and check options and current prices for your trip (expect prices in the future to rise):

http://www.kayak.com/ - airfares & hotels; the explore function is useful for finding the less expensive places to fly into from your starting point.

http://www.skyscanner.it/ - particularly good for budget flights within Europe, but you can also use everywhere as a destination to do something like the explore option on Kayak. You may not need the airfares, but you can compare to the cost of the trains to get around. this one may be more useful for you.

http://www.seat61.com/ - a great train site with details about railpasses. It can be cheaper to buy individual tickets than passes. This site will tell you how to determine whether you're better off with a railpass or individual tickets or some combination for your trip. It also details how to use the pass and what to avoid to get the best use out of a pass. Most high speed, international and night trains require reservations and will require you to pay a supplement when you use a railpass. You need to be aware that a railpass is almost always more expensive for trains here in some places like Italy and Spain.

http://www.trenitalia.com/cms/v/index.js… - Italian train schedules & prices. You can find links to the various national train sites on the Man in Seat 61 site above.

http://www.venere.com/ - hotels/B&Bs - prices for the same hotel can vary hugely depending on the season and what local events are going on.

http://www.hostelbookers.com/ - hostels.

http://www.monasterystays.com/ - monasteries & convents that offer accommodations

You can also look into camping or couch surfing as cheaper alternatives for accommodations.

http://www.whatsonwhen.com/sisp/index.ht… - festivals, exhibitions and events

http://www.backpackeurope.com/ - information & advice

For sightseeing prices: check the websites for entrance fees for the museums & galleries you're interested in. I spend anywhere between nothing and 40 euro a day depending on exactly what I go to see when out exploring. For food, I spend around 25 to 50 euro for a meal, but you can eat for less. A pizza is 8 to 13 euro and a panino or wrap is around 3 to 6.50 euro in many places. You can often get food at festivals at a relatively low price. You can also shop in the markets and put some meals together for yourselves. When I travel, I like to try the local specialties and the good restaurants.

Spanish Official: 20 Dead in Train Crash | KTLA 5

MADRID -- A train crash in northwestern Spain Wednesday killed at least 20 people and injured dozens more, a senior aide to Spain's prime minister told CNN.

How do Europeans manage to party until 6 am?

My friend just came back from study abroad in Spain and said clubs over there close at around 5 to 7 am. Most clubs and bars here in the US close by 1 am or 2 am which means people can go out and not really disrupt their sleep times that much. If Europeans go to sleep at 7 am do they wake up the next day at noon? How can they have jobs and everything with this type of schedule.

Answer: I have never done it, never wanted it, but I do see people at work who do.
They take a nap on the friday early evening, get ready to leave around midnight.
Party till they can take the first train home (or a later one, as late as noon happens) and crash till it is time to go out again.
Sunday they crash again but will get awake late afternoon, for dinner. Stay awake through the evening and go to bed at the normal time.

Every Monday they are jet lagged, but they think it is worth it, for a while at least.
After a few years they do tend to stop going to the all night parties.

How likely are plane crashes?

Theres this trip to Europe that I might be going on next summer for school, and Im really scared of planes. Ive never been on one, however. But Im willing to overcome my fears for this wonderful opportunity.
My mom has the same fear, but shes letting me go.
Its such a great opportunity. Were going to Italy, France, and Spain.
I just want to ask, how likely is it that I would face a gruesome plane death on my way there, when Im there, or when Im coming home?

Answer: Air travel is the safest form of transportation. Of course some airlines have a higher rate of crashes than others, but if you are flying a well-known airline from a developed country, then your chances of being in a plane crash should be lower. Understand that airlines that operate in the U.S. and other developed countries have strict rules and regulations that must be followed otherwise the airline will be fined or can be grounded from flying. Also the crew is well-trained and the maintenance is pretty good. Airlines know that if one of their planes crash due to poor maintenance, their reputation is ruined and a lot of people will go to other airlines.

Why do they ask you you to turn off the electrical appliances (cell phones) when youre on the plane?

whats a phone going to do to a plane? crash it?

Answer: Here ya go, form an ex-USAF Avionics tech.

Cell phones constantly send and receive signals looking for cell towers.

Now then. Airliners are essentially a big metal tube with wings. The signals of maybe a hundred or so cell phones will bounce around inside the cabin. Actually multiplying in strength. That can, and does affect electronics on the flight deck.

Static on the radios can be a giveaway to the crew. My wife works for an airline as a CSA. The pilot on one of their flights could tell someone on board was using a cell phone by the interference he was hearing. The customer wouldn't turn off the phone. They taxied back to the gate where my wife had to remove him from the flight.

And one of the above posters is quite correct. The terrorists that blew up the trains in Spain several years ago, used cell phones as detonators.

What sort of grades will I need to become a banker?

I am only 14 so I still have a long time to plan my life out but I have become really interested in becoming a banker for Goldman Sachs. Anyone know what GCSEs I would need for that? Would additional maths increase my chances? Thanks everyone!
Please answer. Im just trying to figure out the direction my lifes gonna head towards.
Thanks so much for that answer! Cant tell you how useful if was :-)

Answer: Additional maths will not in itself increase your chances, but it will give you a head start in studing for your A-level Maths.

Banks look for applicants with Degrees in Maths, Sciences and Finance related subjects. If you intend to be a high flyer in he bank you will need a least an upper second class degree from a respected university. For lnernational banking some language qualifications are necessary and banks do take on some people with language degrees, but they should expect to have to do a much longer training period within the bank to reach the same grade as those starting with other degrees.

If you decide that you don't want to work in the city, but would be happier working as a provincial bank manager, then you can start training with a bank with a lower standard of degree, and the training will take a couple more years.

Employers tend not to look at your GSCE grades, but universities might do if your A-level scores are marginal.

If you are thinking about becoming trader then forget it. They get their jobs either through the Old School tie network, or they are head hunted by strange means. Most trading decisions are now done my incredibly poor computer programs anyway, which is why the world's finances are in such a mess. The computers programs noticed that house price in America always seemed to go up, so they kept pushing for investment in more and more property loans, ignoring the fact that at some point they would run out of people that could afford to pay back their mortages. The same thing also happend in Spain, Ireland, and elsewhere. That is how the crash began, and once it started all kinds of other inflated stocks were revealed. Nobody new what any buisness was worth anymore, so everyone is now frightened to invest in anything other than commodities.

The jobs report has been disappointing. Do you think things are going to continue to get worse?

It seems that every day another shoe drops. What are your comments about the future of our economy and our Country.

Answer: Yes, i do believe things will continue to worsen. There is more turmoil in the Europe Union with the worries of the crashing euro dollar. Spain, Portugal, Italy, Ireland and now Hungary are still greatly at risk of following the same course as Greece. The financial world is too global for that not to continue to effect the U.S. (and other Countries).

The Bureau of Labor Stats reported an addition of 430,000 jobs in May; however, 411,000 of those jobs are TEMPORARY Census worker jobs. So, i don't think some 20,000 *actual* jobs is anything to get excited about.

And don't forget that those are federally-paid jobs, which means it's just more of the taxpayers money being spent ~ in other words, if those temporary Census workers were previously receiving unemployment benefits, the money they're being paid was simply shifted out of federal unemployment funds and over to federal Census worker paying funds ... still all out of the same pocket - ours.

Adding insult to injury, the government is jiggling the figures of the Census workers and THAT is according to actual Census workers. They are counting it as a "job added" when the put someone into training. They work people for a few hours and then lay them off. A couple days, a week, or so later, they 're-hire' them and count that as ANOTHER job added.

The government does not ... cannot ... "grow" jobs because anyone paid by the government is paid by the taxpayer. The only true growth in the job market must be in the private sector. Without significant private sector job growth, there will be no recovery.

Even if someone were to get excited over the addition of that 20,000 jobs, it must also be remembered that the percentage of unemployment (currently reported at 9.7%) includes ONLY those people receiving unemployment benefits. Temporary Census workers are NOT receiving that while working. People who have been unemployed too long to continue receiving benefits are not counted, either. The "real" unemployment rate is somewhere between 17% and 20%.

Just a few weeks ago, the experts were saying that they could easily see our economy crashing by 2013 because our national debt would be 100% of our GDP by then. They were wrong. It's already over 94% of our GDP and has come up a full percent just THIS week.

The stopping of the off shore drilling/exploration will cause the loss of many, many jobs. The oil spill is going to cost thousands of jobs/livelihoods/income sources and because a lot of those are independent fishermen, they won't be eligible for unemployment, thus the 'real' unemployment rate is going to go up. The overall economic impact of that oil spill is going to be so far-reaching that we cannot possibly know yet just what the toll will be.

In addition to all of that, matters are heating up in both N. and S. Korea WITH U.S. involvement AND in the Middle East.
